Commissioned Proposal for CNRA
Theme: Human and Environmental Sustainability

My ambition is to create a work that is reflective of the CNRA mission. Using data sets representative of environmental research undertaken by CNRA, I propose to create a new work reflecting the multiple forces that come together to achieve a state of 'Equilibrium.'

Arranged Structures

2020
Edition 3 + 1 AP

Duration: 60 min

Single Channel: 2160 px x 3840 px

Acquisition: $15, 000.00 USD

Delivery: August 2021

Theme: Climate Change / Emissions

Climate change is a global phenomenon, which unfortunately Australia and California experience in the form of bushfires.

The Anthropogenic impact on the environment is demonstrated in 'Rearranged Structures', beginning gently with 100 particles per second, which builds to 30,000 particles per second over a 60 min period, visually representing the exponential effect we have had on the environment since the industrial age.

The sequence uses medical imaging techniques driven by sonic frequencies to create a meditation on the fragility and magic of the human body. The work pays homage to our continuing curiosity and quest to explore and improve the welfare of humankind.

Crucible - Monochrome

2016-2018

Edition 5 + 1 AP

Duration: 10 min
Single Channel: 2160 px x 3840 px

Acquisition: $10, 000.00 USD

Delivery: August 2021

Theme:  Mental Health

The 'Crucible' represents the challenges we have with mental health and addiction within our societies. The inspiration for the work came from Carl Jung's theory of the "Shadow" and reflects my personal story growing up under the spectre of alcohol abuse and domestic violence. The 'Crucible' is a trial that can have positive outcomes, recognising the difficulty if that journey is part of the healing process.
